The Morgan families of Arubial and The Grove donated ten females each to compliment the 112 Shorthorn cows forming the central test herd stationed at "Stirling", Orange, owned by Belgravia Wines.
Both herds already play a major role in the Durham research project as they form part of the large satellite herd programme which constitutes some 800 heifer matings to Durham sires annually.
The heifers and young cows arrived safely at Stirling and were immediately synchronised to be inseminated with the second round of AI for the herd.
The calves are continuing to bloom on the new agistment and the cows appear to be milking extremely well and at the same time are improving noticeably in condition.
We are indebted to both families for their generosity, goodwill and their unwaivering support for the research and development programme which continues to create interest from other breeds and countries.
The recent 250 day (108 steers) and domestic NFI kill (50 steers) data has been entered into the current Breedplan run and this analysis will complete the carcass outcomes for the 2002 sire intake.
